★ DPR security agents detain Shakhyorsk transmission tower blast suspect



Donetsk, Aug 13 – DAN. Agents of the Donetsk People’s Republic State Security Ministry detained a man suspected of blasting several high voltage electricity towers in Shakhyorsk, the Ministry’s press service reported on Tuesday.

“Today, power outages occurred in a number of areas in Shakhyorsk and nearby settlements as the bombs planted on four high-voltage pylons were set off,” the press service said. “State Security Ministry agents detained a suspect.”

Criminal proceedings were filed under Article 256 of the DPR Criminal Code (illegal acquisition, handover, sale, storage or transportation or weapons, their parts, ammunition, explosives or explosive devices” and Article 229 (terrorist attack).

“Emergency services are now working on minimizing and eliminating the consequences of the terrorist attack,” the press service said. Electricity supply to the vital infrastructure facilities has been restored.



An investigation and a search are underway.

Earlier, a law-enforcement source told the Donetsk News Agency that saboteurs had blown up four high-voltage pylons in Shakhtyorsk in the east of the Donetsk People’s Republic.*jk
