5,500 residents of Kiev-controlled part of Donbass receive treatment under humanitarian programme in 2019

Donetsk, Dec 24 – DAN. Donetsk People’s Republic medics have provided assistance to more than 5,500 residents of Kiev-controlled areas in 2019, DPR Healthcare Ministry reported on Tuesday.

“High quality medical assistance has been provided to 5,565 patients from Ukraine-controlled areas of the Donetsk region under the Donbass people reunification humanitarian programme since the beginning of 2019,” the report said.

Two hundred and seventy women had quality obstetric services and gynaecological surgery at the Donetsk Republican Maternity and Child Centre. Husak Emergency and Restorative Surgery specialists treated more than 950 patients from the Kiev-controlled part of Donbass.

At the same time, the Donetsk Clinical Regional Medical Association provided assistance to 3,791 in-and out-patients across a wide range of fields. Also, the Republican Children’s Clinical Hospital (RDBK) treated 368 children from Ukraine-held parts of the Donetsk region under the humanitarian programme. The RDBK also vaccinated 154 children.

The DPR has implemented the humanitarian programme since February 2017. Its objective is to strengthen cultural, humanitarian and professional ties and provide social and public services. For example, the DPR provides medical and financial support  and allocates higher education quotas to residents of Kiev-held areas.

The health care segment of the programme envisions medical assistance in 12 areas including cancer surgery, obstetrics, chemotherapy, gynaecological surgery, prosthetics and vaccination.*jk
