Arrivals from Ukraine pass Yelenovka crossing point after three-month shutdown
Yelenovka, Jun 25 – DAN. The Donetsk People’s Republic opened the Yelenovka crossing point near Donetsk for citizens from Ukraine-controlled areas on Thursday. The decision to resume traffic across the contact line was made after protracted Ukrainian-DPR talks over humanitarian corridor.
Just a few people crossed the contact line in the first hours of the crossing point operation due to the anti-epidemic measures against the coronavirus infection. The arrivals have their temperature checked and fill out a questionnaire; the vehicles are sanitised. After all precautions have been taken, the visitors face mandatory two-week observation.
There are four crossing point on the contact line between the DPR and Ukraine-held territory: Gorlovka-Mayorskoye, Yelenovka-Novotroitskoye, Alexandrovka-Maryinka and Oktyabr-Gnutovo. All the crossing points suspended operation in March to fight the COVID-19 outbreak.
On June 22, the DPR opened the Yelenovka crossing point south of Donetsk. A few hours later Ukraine opened the counterpart Novotroitskoye crossing point. It is the first crossing point on the contact line between the DPR and Ukraine-held territory which opened after the introduction of COVID-19 lockdown measures.*jk
