Basurin names reasons behind possible escalation in Donbass

Donetsk, Oct 30 – DAN. The conflict in Donbass might escalate soon, said DPR People’s Militia deputy chief-of-staff Eduard Basurin.

“We do not exclude a possible escalation along the contact line and activation of shelling. Political battles within Ukraine and pandemic-induced exacerbation of internal issues make Kiev seek changing of public attention focus.”

He said that DPR will react accordingly in case the security situation escalates.

“We warn the Ukrainian side of our adequate measures in case they knowingly violate the ceeasefie.”

Earlier, a DPR serviceman was killed outside Naberezhnoye by an explosive device dropped by a drone. A Grigorovka civilian was injured in a mine blast.

The Additional Measures to Strengthen the Ceasefire were signed at the Contact Group meeting on July 22 to reinforce and control the indefinite ceasefire in effect since July 21, 2019, the latest in the series of more than 20 reconfirmation and announcements of the “silence regime”. The package came into effect on July 27. *ot
