DPR issues postal stamps featuring Joseph Stalin portrait



Donetsk, Dec 18 – DAN. DPR State Post has issues a postal stamp featuring an outstanding revolutionary  and politician Joseph Stalin.

“DPR State Post is launching a series of stamps called “Outstanding People” by issuing No.171 stamp Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin; the launch is times to coincide with his birthday.”

The stamp of 39 Rub nominal price features Stalin’s ceremonial portrait and has a print-run of 16,000 copies.

First day cover depicts full length portrait of the Soviet leader and has a print-run of 1,200 copies.



Franking with the first-day stamp (also featuring Stalin’s portrait) was available at the Filatelia shop at the Artyoma street 72 in Donetsk.

Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin was born on December 18, 1878 in the Russian Empire. He led the Soviet Union from the mid–1920s until 1953. Under his leadership the USSR won the WWII and became one of the world’s most powerful states.

Donetsk (then Yuzovka) was renamed into Stalino in 1924 and preserved the name of the Soviet leader until 1961. *ot
