DPR militia downs enemy reconnaissance drone north of Donetsk

Donetsk, Oct 17 – DAN. Donetsk People’s Republic air defence units shot down a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle on a reconnaissance mission near the Donetsk airport, the DPR People’s Militia reported on Thursday.

Thanks to our defenders’ professionalism, another Phantom-type drone of Ukrainian armed formations was destroyed in the Spartak village area. It was used for reconnaissance purposes by 56th Brigade gunmen,” the report said.

The drone was manufactured in the USA.

The Spartak village is located outside Donetsk near the former Sergey Prokofiev airport. It periodically comes  under Ukrainian army fire. Over the past 24 hours alone, it was shelled with more than 80 120mm and 82mm mortar rounds; various types of grenade launchers were also used.*jk
