DPR ombudswoman shocked by murder of disabled person from Donetsk by Ukrainian servicemen

Donetsk, Sep 16 – DAN. Donetsk People’s Republic ombudswoman Darya Morozova said that she was totally indignant over the circumstances of the murder of a disabled person from Donetsk in the Maryinka area.

On 14 September, the DPR People’s Militia reported that Ukrainian army 24th Brigade servicemen had detained a disabled young man, seized his money, tortured him and then killed him. To conceal the crime, they burnt the body at an abandoned farm.

“This cruel murder, a horrible act of violence against a person who had health problems, is evidence of permissiveness and inhumanity of the Ukrainian regime, cynical trampling on human rights and abuse of basic values of humanism. The life and health of a person mean nothing to Ukrainian law enforcers, and a lack of proper response of the international community strengthens their confidence in their impurity and encourages them to commit new crimes,” Morozova said.

The tragedy occurred in July 2019. It was reported after Ukrainian police asked the mother of the missing Donetsk resident to identify his body.

“The brutal murder and the attempt to hide the signs of the crime violate not only the existing legislation but also the principles of international law, including the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, the ombudswoman added, urging international organisation to help punish the culprits.*jk
