DPR to work on railway link with Russia after COVID-19 related pause – Pushilin
Debaltsevo, Sep 3 – DAN. Donetsk People’s Republic authorities are following up the issue of railway link with Russia, which was postponed due to the coronavirus infection crisis, DPR Head Denis Pushilin said at a meeting with local residents on Thursday.
“Our current task is to launch direct link with Moscow, St Petersburg and Crimea,” Pushilin said. “It’s not up to us to expedite the process because it’s about interaction between the DPR and Russian railway companies.”
“I won’t designate timeframes; I wanted to do it in the beginning of this year, and it looked like it could work out, but then the COVID-19 crisis occurred which paralysed the work. It has been reanimated by now,” he said.
On September 8, 2019, Pushilin said at his meeting with young people that the rail link between the Republic and largest Russian cities might be launched in the foreseeable future.*jk
