Folk arts masters from four Russian regions to take part in Donetsk ethnic festival

Donetsk, Aug 15 – DAN. The Gostiny Dvor (Shopping Arcade) Ethnic Festival in Donetsk will gather more than 100 folk arts masters including a delegation from four Russian regions, Donetsk People’s Republic Deputy Culture Minister Vera Korkhmalyuk said at a press briefing at the Donetsk News Agency on Thursday.

“According to a recent tradition, Donetsk will host the Gostiny Dvor ethnic festival on August 16-18, as part of the Year of the Russian language,” Krokhmalyuk said. “It will involve more than 100 masters of decorative and applied arts, including our colleagues from the Astrakhan, Sverdlovsk, Lipetsk and Bryansk regions.”

Russians will hold master classes in making birch bark pictures, Romanovskaya toy whistles and bast shoes, wood carving and needlework. Six theme floors will operate at the festival. An ethnic discotheque, an exhibition and a gastronomy festival are on the programme.

The festival venue is Pushkin Boulevard in central Donetsk. Opening hours: 11:00 – 20:000. Donetsk hosted the Gostiny Dvor festival for the first time in 2018.*jk*pp
