Gorlovka resident sentenced to 15 years for spying for Ukraine – DPR prosecutors



Donetsk, Sep 9 – DAN. A resident of the frontline Gorlovka has been sentenced to 15 years for spying for the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the Donetsk People’s Republic Prosecutor General’s Office press service told the Donetsk News Agency on Monday.

“The Supreme Court Appeals Chamber on August 5, 2019, passed a verdict on K.Polikarpov, accused of espionage (DPR Criminal Code Article 321). He was found guilty and sentenced to 15 years in a maximum security prison,” the report said.

The PGO said Polikarpov had been recruited by the SBU. In November 2017, he photographed DPR People’s Militia positions and the location of the Republic’s government bodies and uploaded this information for the SBU.

The DPR has convicted seven persons for espionage for Ukraine since the beginning of this year.*jk
