Kiev rejects idea of direct phone link with Donbass for ceasefire control – Foreign Minsitry

Donetsk, Apr 8 – DAN. Ukraine has refused to establish a direct telephone line with Donbass to facilitate prompt control over the ceasefire, said DPR Foreign Minister Natalia Nikonorova.

“I remind that we supported the initiative of Mr. Ermak (Andrey Ermak, head of the Ukrainian presidential office), on March 11 in Minks to introduce a measure to establish a direct telephone link to be used in case it is necessary to promptly stop ceasefire violations. In our view, it is a truly important and efficient measure of instant ceasefire control. That is why we were surprised to see Ukrainian edits to the Contact Group draft statement. They excluded this measure,” she explained.

The measure is supposed to hold up the indefinite ceasefire introduced on July 21, 2019, including additional measures to reinforce it and control its implementation. *ot
