Kravchuk admits Kiev’s peace plan must be amended in line with Minsk Agreements

Donetsk, Nov 11 – DAN. Ukrainian side in the Contact Group admitted it is necessary to amend its peace plan in accordance with the Minsk Agreements and with the approval of the Donbass Republics, said DPR representative in the Contact Group, Foreign Minister Natalia Nikonorova.

Earlier on Wednesday the head of the Ukrainian delegation Leonid Kravchuk said that Ukrainian Parliament was going to pass the law on the peculiarities of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions’ self-governance, taking into account DPR and LPR wishes on certain condition, though there are no plans to imbed the special status in the Constitution. This position is reflected in Kiev’s Plan of Joint Steps. Besides, Ukraine insists on changing the order of the Minsk Agreement articles saying it is impossible to implement them in the current order.

“The contents of the Draft Plan of Joint Steps makes clear that it is not aimed at the peaceful settlement, but envisages a gradual armed seizure of the Republics. They suggest that we are disarmed, capitulate, let the Ukrainian military in, and after that, maybe, hold elections without a permanent law on the special status, without amendments to the constitution, without any political settlement.”

According to Nikonorova, numerous questions and remarks made Kravchuk admit the necessity to put the Plan in line with the Minsk Agreements in coordination with the DPR and LPR.

DPR and LPR presented their road map at the Contact Group conference on October 14. Ukraine tabled its version in early November. *ot
