Kuchma’s absence from Contact Group talks is obstacle to productive work – DPR Ministry

Donetsk, Mar 26 – DAN. The Contact Group has begun the Donbass peace talks without Ukraine’s authorised representative Leonid Kuchma, the Donetsk People’s Republic Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.

“In the absence of official head of the Ukrainian delegation Mr Kuchma, a person who has no full powers to represent Ukraine at the negotiations is taking part in the meeting, which is an obvious obstacle to productive work of the Contact Group,” the Foreign Ministry said.

Meanwhile, a number of issues discussed by Contact Group’s working subgroups have been put on the agenda, such special status for Donbass, the Consultative Council, initialling additional ceasefire control measures, new security zone proposals, new crossing points on the contact line etc.

The Contact Group is meeting in the format of video conference. The decision to hold the meeting in this format was made due to the unstable epidemiological situation in the world.*jk
