MGB detains DPR resident spying in favor of Ukraine



Donetsk, Feb 5 – DAN. The DPR Ministry of State Security has detained a Republican resident for espionage in favor of Ukrainian security service, the MGB press service said.

“The MGB has detained Parfenyuk Dmitry Alexandrovich, year of birth 1989, on suspicion of espionage in favor of Ukrainian special services. He was recruited by the Ukrainian security service in August 2017 at the Maryinka checkpoint blackmailed by compromising material,” the report reads.

Since August 2017 until September 2019, the suspect was delivering unidentified parcels to the DPR, passed Republican mobile carrier SIM cards to the Ukrainian security service, and they were later used for preparation and execution of sabotage acts and terrorist attacks.

Parfenyuk was also monitoring and passing data on apartments in Donetsk following instructions of the Ukrainian security service, and collected data on military units, personnel of patrols around those units and checkpoints personnel. He was also tasked to be hired by the DPR Goverenment to provide data on its work.

“A criminal case under Article 321 of the DPR Criminal Code has been launched.”



The MGB calls on all DPR residents to immediately report any cases of attempted recruiting by foreign special services. *ot
