Morozova concerned about impunity of Ukrainian forces attacking DPR towns with drones

Donetsk, Sep 3 – DAN. Donetsk People’s Republic ombudswoman Darya Morozova expressed serious concern about impunity of the Ukrainian forces that use unmanned aerial vehicles to attack DPR towns and villages.

“The increased use of UAVs for indiscriminate attacks against DPR towns and villages is an outrageous manifestation of undisguised aggression that causes serious concern,” Morozova said. “The open provocations by Ukrainian armed formations that act with impunity leads to critical worsening of the social and humanitarian situation and undermines the peaceful settlement principles.”

A lack of immediate and adequate response by international human rights organisations to such actions by the Ukrainian military escalates violence in the region. The facts of using UAVs against civilians are also a gross violation of international humanitarian law, she added.

On August 28, Ukrainian forces launched attack drones twice to drop homemade explosives onto the Staromikhailovka neighbourhood in western Donetsk. On August 30, houses and utility sheds were damaged as a Ukrainian drone attacked Gorlovka. On September 1, two Ukrainian UAVs were shot down as they were approaching Gorlovka and the Kominternovo village.*jk
