Ombudswoman asks Ukraine to explain detention of DPR resident at Novotroitskoye crossing point

Donetsk, Jun 25 – DAN. Donetsk asked Ukraine through humanitarian subgroup coordinator for OSCE Toni Frisch about the reasons behind the detention of a Donetsk People’s Republic resident by the Ukrainian security service at the Novotroitskoye crossing point on June 22, DPR ombudswoman, the Republic’s representative to the humanitarian subgroup Darya Morozova said on Thursday.

“I placed an enquiry with Ukraine through humanitarian subgroup coordinator Toni Frisch, and asked international organisations to visit the detainee to ascertain the reasons behind the detention and the place where he’s currently being held,” Morozova said.

The DPR resident was detained by agents of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) at the Novotroitskoye crossing point on Monday. Reports said he had planned to see his relatives in Volnovakha and that he was taken to the SBU Mariupol department.*jk
