Pushilin postpones World War II victory parade due to virus



Donetsk, Apr 17 – DAN. DPR Head Denis Pushilin has postponed the 9 May Victory Day parade in Donetsk because of the coronavirus pandemic.

This year sees the 75th anniversary of the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany in 1945.

“It has been decided to postpone the festivities dedicated to the 75th Victory Day anniversary until the situation stabilizes. As soon as it gets back to normal, the military parade and the Immortal Regiment March will take place. All the celebrations scheduled for the Year of Great Victory will be held, all the veterans will paid attention,” Pushilin said.

The pandemic has also affected plans on the celebration of the Republic’s Establishment Day on May 11. All the events have been postponed.



On March 14, the DPR went on high alert in connection with the threat of the coronavirus infection spread.

DRR has imposed a number of restriction on public events, restaurants and educational institutions. Individuals are subject to fines of 30-60 thousand rubles, while officials have to pay 40-80 thousand rubles if they violate the measures. Individual entrepreneurs risk 80-100 thousand rubles. The fine shall be doubled for second-time offenders. *ot
