Putin signs law to exempt DPR, LPR residents from passport state duty



Donetsk, Apr 24– DAN. Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has signed the law exempting DPR and LPR residents from paying state duty when applying for Russian citizenship. The document was published on the Official Legal Information Portal.

Seventeen parliamentarians including Andrey Kozenko, Natalia Poklonskaya, Alexey Zhuravlyov, Viktor Vodolatsky, Kazbek Taisayev, Sergey Tsekov and Olga Kovitidi called for adding a new provision to Article 333 of the Tax Code to cancel the state duty on the fast track Russian citizenship procedure for DPR and LPR residents.

The new legislation received support from the Russian Cabinet.

On April 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the degree on determining groups of foreign nationals eligible to obtain Russian citizenship under a simplified procedure. The document specifically eases Russian citizenship rules for residents of the Donbass Republics. The first such passports were issued on July 14. Donbass Republics residents have to travel to Russia’s Rostov region to collect their Russian passports. *ot
