Three large Donbass companies to demand 360 billion ruble compensation from Ukraine



Donetsk, Dec 17 – DAN. The public commission for assessing the economic damage caused by Ukraine has reviewed the claims against Ukraine filed by three companies of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, Commission chairwoman Anastasia Butorkina said.

“Representatives of state-owned enterprises Artyomugol, Donetsk Energy Plant and LugaMash-Luganskteplovoz want to lodge claims against Ukraine at the European Court of Human Rights,” Butorkina said. “The overall damage caused to the companies from 2014 through 2019 exceeds 360 billion rubles.”

Because of the fighting, Artyomugol was shut down and some 6,400 of its employees lost their jobs, while two other companies halved their workforce, she added.

The public commission for assessing the damage caused by Ukrainian aggression was set up in early December 2019. It comprises 19 members from the DPR and the LPR.*jk
