Two houses damaged in Kiev army mortar strike at Donetsk as Contact Group is due to meet for talks



Donetsk, Jan 21 – DAN. Ukrainian forces opened mortar fire at the outskirts of the frontline Staromikhailovka neighbourhood in western Donetsk, the Donetsk People’s Republic Office at the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination (JCCC) reported on Thursday.

“At 11:15, Ukrainian armed formations opened fire at the Staromikhailovka settlement,” the report said. “Three 120mm mortar rounds, 15 automatic grenade launcher rounds and three recoilless gun rounds were fired from the Kiev-controlled Krasnogorovka settlement.”

The strike damaged two houses at 22 and 32 Chkalov Street. No casualties were immediately reported, the JCCC said.

The Contact Group is due to meet on Thursday for talks over a peaceful settlement of the Donbass conflict.



The package of tighter ceasefire control measures came into force in Donbass on July 27, 2020. The document bans the use of all weapons, deployment of hardware, special operations, engineer works and unmanned aerial vehicles flights.*jk
