Ukrainian forces fire 60mm mortars at DPR area near Petrovskoye security zone – JCCC

Donetsk, Nov 26 – DAN. Ukrainian forces fired mortars at a Donetsk People’s Republic area  next to the Petrovskoye-Bogdanovka security zone south of Donetsk, the DPR Office at the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination said on Tuesday.

“At 10:57, Ukrainian forces in the Bogdanovka area opened fire towards Petrovksoye (outside the security zone but within a five-kilometre radius),” the JCCC reported. “The enemy expended four 60mm mortar rounds, five BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicle cannon rounds and six grenade launcher rounds, and also used small arms.”

The Petrovskoye village is located on the contact line some 40 kilometres south of Donetsk. Bogdanovka-Petrovskoye is one of the three pilot disengagement areas in Donbass, in accordance with the Framework Agreement signed by the Contact Group participants.

The conflicting parties disengaged back in October 2016, but later on, Ukrainian troops returned to their positions. It was only on November 11 that the sides finally withdrew their units. The disengagement of forces was followed by mine clearance and dismantling of fortifications.

Earlier reports on Tuesday said that Ukrainian army fired 60mm mortars towards Petrovskoye.*jk
